Thursday 11th April - walk **** – Orwell Country Park including a picnic by the river – Mainly cloudy.

After yesterdays full-on 32 mile open sea windsurf foil it was nice to get a lighter wind day which gave Mag and I a chance to pack a picnic and drive over to another one of our favourites, Orwell Country Park near Ipswich. This gave me amble time to do my exercises in the back garden, Mag brushed the cats, they love that and the spring cleaning continues with some more windows cleaned! We left home around mid-day and drove to B & M first for a quick shop before parking up at Orwell Country Park. We decided to walk the other way around for a change today, crossing the A 14, across Ravenwood Park, then instead of taking the noisy straight path that runs along side of the A 14 we turned right and found a top path through a lovely wood including a wooden walkway over a cystal clear stream with loads of birds flitting about and the banks of bluebells were a real treat:) Back down to the old footpath, under the Orwell Bridge and onto the small holding with its many animals and birds with the two pigs fast asleep! Down onto the banks of the River Orwell with the tide high we found a place for our picnic with a bit of a breeze in our faces. We managed to finnish lunch as the water reached our feet and we had to quickly move! We carry on along the river before heading inland to the Bluebell wood and Mag turns on her Merlinn bird song recognion app which is amazing quickly picking up robins, wrens chiff chaffs, tits and even a tree creeper, sadly we did not see it! Back at the van we took the back lanes home stopping off at Levington to pay to windsurf for another year.
